This week I want to showcase concept art from some of Disney’s latest projects. First up – the live action remake of The Jungle Book.
There are, of course, exceptions to every rule. I wouldn’t want this one hanging up on my wall but I love the movement in the image so I had to share it.
Hench said, “Optimism shaped our design philosophy and was often expressed in the parks’ visual and kinetic rhythms. In this sketch, I wanted to add the activity of the waterfalls to the five levels of constant action provided by the modes of transportation in and around the Lagoon (including the submarine both above and below the water).” (from Designing Disney: Imagineering the Art of the Show)
Concept art abounds at Disney so I’m sure many of it will show up here on as well. There are many kinds of concept art but my focus will primarily be the kind that I wouldn’t mind have hung on my wall (subjective, I know, but it is my blog after all).
